The Laboratory conducts research in the field of main group and transition metal homogeneous catalysis. The areas of prime interest are:

• N-heterocyclic carbenes. Design and synthesis of new types of N-heterocyclic carbenes. Synthesis of transition metals complexes, studies of their activity in cross-coupling, polycondensation, olefin polymerization and other reactions.
• Chemistry of 4B group elements (Si, Ge, Sn). Synthesis and stabilization of heavier analogs of carbenes, carbocations, carboanions. Studies of their structure, reactivity and utilization in catalytic processes (ring opening polymerization, polycondensation).
• Quantum-chemical modeling. Modeling of molecular structure, electronic structure, spectral and chemical properties. Ligand design. Modeling of mechanisms of stoichiometric and catalytic reactions.
